Ortho Treatment for Children

Recognizing and addressing issues related to skeletal growth at an early age is vital for effective treatment outcomes. Conditions such as jaw misalignment and other concerns observed in children may signal underlying airway challenges, oral habits, or difficulties with skeletal development. At Nova Orthodontics in Mill Creek, we emphasize the importance of early intervention to support and guide healthy skeletal growth and development.

Dr. Joanna Forbes, Orthodontist

Meet our orthodontist

Dr. Joanna Forbes, DMD

Dr. Joanna Forbes’ lifelong passion for orthodontics began with her own orthodontic treatment during her youth in Venezuela. She studied at the University of Saint Thomas in Colombia, where she achieved her graduate degree in dentistry and a post-graduate degree in orthodontics. Dr. Forbes then settled in Quebec and worked toward obtaining her certification for practicing in Canada. With a desire to further advance her skills, Dr. Forbes attended the International Dental Degree Program at the University of Manitoba.

She then went on to complete a two-year orthodontic fellowship at her alma mater, the University of Manitoba. During those two years, she served on the faculty as course coordinator to the 4th year undergraduate dental students and part-time instructor in the Graduate Orthodontic department. In her personal life, Dr. Forbes enjoys playing tennis and continues her family tradition of sculpting novelty cakes from scratch, using the techniques passed down from her mother and grandmother.
